Jimmy DaSaint is one of those living urban legends that represents the true meaning of “From the streets to the Suites.” Beginning as a youth learning the rules and games of the streets, Jimmy learned early what it meant to grind and go get it. He played the good student role while at the same time, he was learning the lessons of the hood.
Hailing from a section of Philadelphia best known as “The Bottoms” as the oldest of five children, he made his way through the maze of the streets and responsibility as a contributor to the family finances.
In the early 1990s, Jimmy started a rap group called “Inner City Hustlers” and he found peace of mind by writing, producing music and performing. His leadership skills helped propel I.C.H. to notability as one of Philly’s most successful rap groups. His group was featured on mixtapes, television and opened up for other major acts.
Despite some serious tragedy befalling the group and Jimmy’s removal from the street to the federal penitentiary, he took these things and channeled those experiences into writing successful novels based on his life experiences and other reality based happenings in the urban community. His writing transcends the local and captures the message and realities experienced on a global level put into fictional stories.
The Hype Magazine is pleased to have been granted an interview by this very busy personality whose businesses include not only his rap group Inner City Hustlers, Novels and music, he also finds time to publish one of Philadelphia’s hottest hip hop culture and lifestyle magazines. Enjoy!!!
